Special Officer (Full-Time Position) Applications are now being accepted for the position of Special Officer in the Diocesan Office for Safety and Security of the Diocese of Pittsburgh. The Special Officer position, under the direction of the Regional Security Supervisor and collaborating with the Regional School Superintendent, is responsible for performing various duties, to ensure the safety and security of Diocese of Pittsburgh personnel to include clergy, administrators, students, parishioners, visitors and property. This position is assigned to a Regional School and/or High School within the Diocese of Pittsburgh.

Performs a variety of supervisory and administrative tasks in directing the operation of assigned schools in the Diocese of Pittsburgh school system. Employee should exhibit knowledge and skills in effective leadership, strategic planning, change leadership, management, human resource development, and customer service. Further, the employee should exhibit dispositions that reflect a valuing of diversity and equity. Employee is responsible for implementing the Diocese’s mission in the assigned region and improving achievement within the region. Employee is accountable forconnecting assigned schools with the communities of the assigned region by participating in community organizations, community functions, and extra-curricular activities. Employee will be expected to be highly visible in the communities of the assigned region. Employee creates operational processes, plans, and coordinates programs for schools, conducts observations of the schools, assists and advises principals, and evaluates the principals annually. Employee manages issues of a non-academic nature, including building maintenance, finance, human relations, transportation, parent communication, food service, and any other management issues. Employee is also responsible for handling community concerns regarding schools and working with community agencies to jointly address those concerns. Reports to the Superintendent or his/her designee.
