Welcome to the Central Deanery, located within the Diocese of Pittsburgh. The Deanery brings together parishes to foster cooperation and shared pastoral activities throughout the communities. Working together, the Deanery enables the parishes to come together to share resources, support one another and collaborate more effectively in ministry. The goal is to make our ministry even stronger by sharing ideas and working together with neighboring parishes. We invite you to learn more about the parishes within the Central Deanery, explore all of the events taking place and join us as we continue to grow.
The Central Deanery Listening Sessions
The October Listening Sessions provided us with an opportunity to gather and hear the initial outline of our new Central Deanery initiative. Each session included a 30-minute presentation with table discussions and an opportunity to submit feedback.
We have also consolidated the feedback from all listening sessions into one concise overview. You can download it here: Listening Sessions Feedback Summary
A deanery is simply a group of neighboring parishes coming together to share resources, support one another, and collaborate more effectively in ministry. The goal is to make our ministry even stronger by sharing ideas and working together with neighboring parishes. Through this partnership, we can strengthen our communities, improve communication, and strengthen the path for a bright future for the Church in our area.
What role will parishioners play in the Central Deanery?
Parishioners are essential to this journey. Your voice matters. That’s why we will host listening sessions in both the Fall and the Spring, where we will hear from you directly. This is an opportunity for you to share your hopes and dreams for your parish and for the Central Deanery. We want to work together to make sure this new collaboration reflects what is best for you and your faith community. Your active participation, whether in Mass, in ministry, or through your time, talent, and treasure, will continue to be vital to the life of the Church, and we are grateful for it.
Will there be changes to Mass times, locations, or sacramental services?
There will be no immediate changes toMass times or sacramental services in your parish. Any future changes would be made in consultation with the Pastoral Councils and, most importantly, with feedback from you. The goal is to ensure that we’re all able to continue providing the best spiritual care for our communities.
