To thank the faithful for his tenure as the 12th Bishop of Pittsburgh, Bishop David Zubik will celebrate a Mass of Thanksgiving at Saint Paul Cathedral at 7 p.m. on July 10. All are welcome.
Bishop Mark Eckman will succeed him as the 13th Bishop of Pittsburgh on July 14.
“It has been the honor of my life to serve the Church as a bishop. When I was ordained a priest more than 50 years ago, I could never have dreamt being trusted to lead you as your diocesan bishop for nearly 18 years,” Bishop Zubik said. “I can only be profoundly grateful that God has entrusted me to be the Pastor of the Church of Pittsburgh, my home diocese, these last 18 years.”
“Of the many responsibilities which a bishop has, the most important is helping the faithful of his diocese get to heaven. I have tried my best to do this task that God entrusted to me. Over the course of all these years, our priests have joined me in that effort. Over the course of these years, you have all responded so beautifully in working together to help the Church of Pittsburgh to be what we are called to be—the Body of Christ.”
Bishop Zubik is a native of Ambridge, Beaver County and has served as the Bishop of Pittsburgh since 2007. For more details on Bishop Zubik, visit: https://diopitt.org/thankyoubishopzubik.
