Salary Range: $12.50–$14.00 per hour Reports to: Principal

Job Summary

Madonna Catholic Regional School, part of the South Regional Catholic Elementary Schools (SRCES), is seeking a dedicated and reliable Janitorial Staff member to maintain the cleanliness, safety, and welcoming environment of our school facilities. This role is essential in supporting our Christ-centered community by ensuring a clean and well-maintained space for students, staff, and visitors. The position offers flexibility for either part-time or full-time employment, with a competitive hourly wage.

Primary Responsibilities

• Cleaning and Maintenance: 
  • Perform daily custodial duties, including trash removal, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and restroom cleaning, following a weekly schedule.

○ Mop the cafeteria daily after the lunch period to ensure a clean and safe dining area.
○ Strip, seal, and wax floors using wet mops and high-speed buffers as needed.
○ Clean and sanitize classrooms, hallways, restrooms, and common areas to maintain a hygienic environment.

• Grounds and Exterior Upkeep: 
  • Manage routine maintenance of exterior areas, including cutting grass, trimming shrubs, raking leaves, and removing debris from grounds and parking lots.

○ Clear snow from walkways, stairs, and parking areas during winter and apply ice melt as needed.

• Waste Management: 
  • Remove garbage and recycling daily and prepare bins for weekly pick-up.
• Minor Repairs and Maintenance: 
  • Perform minor repairs and maintenance tasks based on skill level and experience, such as fixing small equipment or furniture.

○ Report major repair needs to the facilities manager or principal.
 
 
 
 
 

• Safety and Compliance: 
  • Ensure all cleaning supplies and equipment are used and stored safely in accordance with school policies and safety regulations.

○ Maintain a safe environment by addressing potential hazards promptly.

• Support School Events: 
  • Assist with setup and cleanup for school events, such as assemblies, Masses, or special programs, as needed.

 

Qualifications

• Experience and Skills: 
  • Prior janitorial, custodial, or maintenance experience preferred but not required.

○ Ability to operate cleaning equipment such as buffers, vacuums, and mops.
○ Basic knowledge of minor repairs and grounds maintenance is a plus.

• Physical Requirements: 
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand, walk, bend, and climb ladders as needed.

○ Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions for grounds maintenance.

• Personal Attributes: 
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail.

• Clearances: 
  • Must obtain and maintain all required clearances as outlined by the Diocese of Pittsburgh (available at https://diopitt.org/compliance ~ School Employee), including a Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse Record Check, prior to employment.

Work Schedule

• Part-Time: Approximately 15–25 hours per week, with flexible scheduling (e.g., mornings, afternoons, or evenings) based on school needs.
• Full-Time: Approximately 30–40 hours per week, typically Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM–2:00 PM, with occasional evening or weekend hours for events or special projects.
• Exact hours will be determined based on the candidate’s availability and school requirements.

Compensation and Benefits

• Salary Range: $12.50–$14.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
• Benefits (Full-Time Only): May include health insurance, paid time off, and retirement plan contributions, subject to SRCES policies.
• Benefits (Part-Time): Limited benefits may be available, depending on hours worked and SRCES policies.
