The OCIA Coordinator works with the Director of OCIA to plan, organize, and oversee the faith formation process for adult inquirers and catechumens. This role is designed to support the effective implementation of the Parish’s Christian Initiation program, ensuring that candidates receive thoughtful theological instruction, personal spiritual guidance, and a warm integration into parish life. This is a part-time position averaging 15-20 hours per week. Sunday hours required (program is primarily centered on Sundays), some evening work should be expected. Key Responsibilities:
Program Coordination:
Organize and manage the structure and schedule of the initiation program (often aligning with the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults, RCIA).
Assist with development and updating of curriculum materials and coordinate formation classes, retreats, and liturgical events.
Spiritual and Administrative Support:
Facilitate small group sessions and ensure each candidate is paired with a mentor or sponsor as needed.
Maintain accurate records of candidate progress and related documentation.
Collaboration and Communication:
Work closely with parish leadership, volunteer teams, and affiliated ministries to promote a cohesive formation experience.
Coordinate with Director for liturgical and sacramental ministers to plan events that celebrate the milestones of initiation.
Assist in publicizing the program within the parish and the wider community.
Qualifications:
A strong, personal commitment to the Catholic faith and its teachings.
Previous experience in faith formation, adult education, or ministry coordination.
Excellent organizational and interpersonal communication skills.
Previous experience with OCIA or a willingness to learn the process.
A bachelor’s degree in theology, religious studies, or a related field is preferred.
