Job Title: Director of Social Services Location: Saint Michael the Archangel Parish (Mt. Lebanon & Scott Township) Job Type: Full-Time Reports To: Rev. Brian J. Welding, Pastor Summary We are seeking a dedicated and mission-driven Director of Social Services and Ministry Coordination to oversee and enhance our diverse range of parish ministries. This role involves coordinating social services, managing volunteer engagement, and implementing initiatives that address the spiritual and material needs of our community, guided by Catholic values. Key Responsibilities
Ministry Management: Oversee operations and volunteer engagement for St. Isidore and Maria Community Garden, St. Martin’s Table, Stephen Ministry, and St. Joseph’s Toolbox Ministry.
Social Service Coordination: Manage all social service calls and referrals. Act as the primary liaison for St. Vincent de Paul (SVDP) and the Ladies of Charity for joint initiatives (Angel Tree, drives, meal trains, etc.).
Development: Build out new ministries for the poor, the homebound, and young adults, focusing on the corporal works of mercy and formational opportunities as needed.
Collaboration & Partnerships: Establish and maintain strong collaborations with external partners including Catholic Charities, The Red Door, Mary’s Place, and local youth groups/Boy Scouts.
Event and Mission Support: Coordinate various parish events (Thanksgiving Dinners, Holy Land Sale, Chimbote Foundation Benefit), assist Youth Ministry with annual Mission Week planning, and organize pilgrimages and receptions.
Family and Youth Support: Support core teams for Mom's Group and St. Zelie and Louis Martin Family Ministry in creating community and faith-based programming.
Qualifications and Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Theology, pastoral studies or a related field or equivalent experience.
Guided by Gospel values and the teachings of the Catholic Church, and adhering to Catholic social teaching.
Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
Proven ability to manage programs, budgets, and volunteers effectively.
Flexibility to work some evenings and weekends.
