The Diocese of Pittsburgh is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Brian D. Fernandes as President of Bishop Canevin High School, effective July 1, 2025. This appointment comes with the full support of the Catholic High Schools of the Diocese of Pittsburgh, Inc. Board of Directors and the Bishop Canevin High School Board of Directors.
Mr. Fernandes brings a wealth of experience and a strong commitment to Catholic education. He most recently served as an Education Consultant at Next Level Consulting Solutions, LLC, where he guided families through admissions, financial aid, enrollment, and student accounts. His previous roles include Associate Director of Enrollment Services and Director of Academic Services at Carnegie Mellon University, as well as leadership positions at other colleges and institutions in student and enrollment services.
“Mr. Fernandes has demonstrated a passion for education, a dedication to student success, and a deep understanding of the importance of Catholic identity in our schools,” said Bishop David Zubik. “I am confident that his leadership, energy, and vision will bring renewed strength to Bishop Canevin and inspire hope for the future.”
Mr. Fernandes expressed enthusiasm about the opportunity to lead Bishop Canevin: “It is a blessing and an honor to be appointed President at Bishop Canevin. I know the history and love of the school from current students to alumni. We will work strategically, comprehensively, and expeditiously to ensure the future is bright.”
He added, “This is an opportunity of a lifetime for me. The ability to serve my Maker and continue to work with students is an absolute blessing—and one I will not take lightly.”
As President, Mr. Fernandes will focus on strategic planning, development, enrollment growth, fundraising, and financial sustainability. He will also help grow STEM opportunities and strengthen collaboration with local universities.
