Pittsburgh East Regional Catholic Elementary Schools, Inc. (PERCES) Accounting Assistant
Position Type: Part Time/non-Exempt Reports To: Regional Business Manager/Assistant Regional Business Manager Vision The PERCES Accounting Assistant is a professional administrator in support of the Assistant Regional Business Manager and Regional Business Manager. The PERCES Accounting Assistant assists in the stewardship of all temporal activities of the PERCES. The emphasis of this ministry is on specific duties in the areas of accounts payable and accounts receivable. The PERCES Accounting Assistant is a fully initiated, practicing Catholic committed to Gospel values. He or she values the organization and responsible management of resources and helps the PERCES to fulfill the Church’s mission and purpose. Responsibilities and Tasks: Accounts Payable: Under the direction of the Assistant Regional Business Manager,
Assists with purchases and transactions made at the school level.
Receives invoices from local schools and processes payments accordingly.
Assists with recording of expenses related to license agreements and submits to host parishes.
Assists with issuance of checks to host parishes for shared expenses.
Accounting/Finance: Under the direction of the Assistant Regional Business Manager,
Enters transactions into Quicken for assigned school locations and reviews with Assistant Regional Business Manager.
Reconciles assigned school bank accounts to Quicken monthly.
Correctly processes payments as directed and maintains supporting financial reports and documentation.
Performs recordkeeping for various programs and school accounts as directed.
This position may also assist as necessary with recordkeeping for Tuition Management/Financial Aid, the National School Lunch Program, the E-Rate program, and other tasks as assigned. Formation, Training and Criteria for Readiness Preparation for the role of the PERCES Accounting Assistant needs to include development of the competencies and skills as outlined above. Effective exercise of this role particularly requires:
3-5 years of relevant experience in bookkeeping and accounting in a business environment.
Associates degree or certificate in Accounting or Bookkeeping preferred.
Experience in Quicken or similar bookkeeping software.
Willingness to visit all PERCES schools on an occasional basis, during the school day.
An orientation to the mission of the diocese and PERCES.
Commitment to continuing education and professional development.
