Parish Office Assistant (Part-Time) at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish Position Summary We are seeking a dependable and friendly Part-Time Office Assistant to support parish staff—particularly the Parish Administrative Assistant—in carrying out the mission of the parish. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys administrative work, interacting with people, and supporting a faith-based community in a welcoming office environment. Schedule: Approximately 20 hours per week. Regular days are Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, with Thursday and/or Friday as needed, depending on current tasks. Schedule is flexible. Key Responsibilities
Serve as a primary point of contact by answering phones, voicemails, and emails in a timely and courteous manner
Support parish operations through a variety of administrative and office duties
Assist with scheduling and coordination of sacraments and parish events
Maintain parish records, calendars, and communications
Provide support for mailings, bulletins, reports, and fundraising efforts
Assist with parish-wide projects and seasonal events throughout the year
Specific Duties Include
Managing phone calls, emails, and daily mail
Scheduling Mass intentions and sanctuary candles; tracking stipends using Excel
Maintaining copier machines and office supply areas
Assisting with weekly bulletins, homebound mailings, and parish-wide mailings
Supporting scheduling for baptisms, weddings, funerals, and parish events
Maintaining the parish and pastor calendars and setting up Zoom meetings as needed
Coordinating Safe Environment requirements with the Diocese
Assisting with purchasing supplies and coordinating parish events and luncheons
Assisting with other administrative projects as assigned
Qualifications
High school diploma required; Associate degree preferred
Minimum 2 years of experience in an office environment
Proficiency with office technology and software, including Microsoft Office Suite
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask
Pleasant, courteous, and professional demeanor, as this role frequently interacts with parishioners and visitors
Diocesan Safe Environment Requirements Employment is contingent upon successful completion of all Diocesan Safe Environment requirements, which may include:
Criminal background check
Completion of Diocesan Safe Environment training
Ongoing compliance with diocesan policies regarding the protection of children, youth, and vulnerable adults
